Francisco Romero
Romero is avisual artist, (Mex. -1972) who works at The labyrinth, his personal studio, where he develops his engraving, drawing and painting work. Romero obtained his B.A. in Fine Arts, a Universidad de Guanajuato. Mex. And also a DEA (Certificate in Advanced Studies) in Visual Arts, at Universidad Politécnica, in Spain.
In 20212 he was awarded with the 1st. Place in the 53 Contest Internazionale Bice Bugatti, Milan, Italy. In 2018 he was awarded with the 1st. Place in the National contest of Visual Arts in the engraving area from Fundación Cervantina de México & Museo Iconográfico del Quijote.
From 1991 to this date, Romero has exhibited his work more than 100 times in different spaces through biennials, personal and join exhibitions, in different museums and art galleries in México, USA, Italy, Korea, Japan and Belgium. In 2007 he held a solo exhibition entitled "Alma Quemada" for 35 Festival Internacional Cervantino. From 2009 to 2010 Romero and his students al Centro de las Artes de guanajuato created the scenography for two operas: Bastian & Bastiana froms W. A. Mozart that was staged at Teatro Juárez in Gto., México and El Gato con Botas from César Cui, both operas was the result of the special tutorship called "Escenograbado". From 2009 to 2010 Romero was represented by ADC Contemporary Art Gallery en Los Angeles, California, were he had a solo exhibition in 2011 called "Breathing Wall". In 2013 he completed an artistic residence in La Chataigneraie, Wallon Center dÁrt Contemporaneo in Belgium. From 2013 to 2014 he was part of the project Atmosphere, Tracce de Contemporaneo, in Milan, Italy. In 2015 he participated in the project called "Grafiti an Engraving" : Urbanografias at Nave Generadores del Centro de las Artes en Parque Fundidora, Monterrey, México. In 2017, Romero had an individual exhibition entitled "Rutas de Navegación". In 2019 he was part of the group exhibition called "Maestros del Grabado del Museo MIM" from University DeLaSalle Bajío an also had a solo exhibition called "The inertia of the form".

Artist's statement
During the last year of my professional work, through my creations, I have experimented with different evolutive phases, going from figurative to abstraction, establishing as primary object the possibility of representing different moments of tension and stillness, stability and chaos, that we undergo everyday.
